Laurette Hamlin

About Me

I was born and raised in the high country of Colorado’s western slope. “Mountain Math” was the theme of my formative years. My father built power and control systems for the construction of Blue Mesa Dam and Flaming Gorge Dam and my mother kept her Calculus books, violin music, and encyclopedias in the living room for everyone’s easy entertainment. I have taken that beginning on a lifelong journey of exploration and curiosity in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics.

My two main interests are enriching people’s lives and everything related to atmospheric modeling. Machine Learning, Spatial Statistics, Climatology, Political Redistricting, and High Performance Computing are specific research areas I would like to continue pursuing. I also have a goal to work with the Shallow Water Equations before I am done with it all.
